Release 41 on the Parisian label that consistently proves why it deserves to be amongst the best, thirteen years on from inception.
Coming from the creative mind behind Adult Only, this 4-tracker lives up to his long-standing reputation. ‘Freshly Ground’ is a clever contrast of the extremities of the house spectrum. A high energy track that is yet calming and melodic, digital bleeps juxtaposed against a background of soothing synths and warming bass. Luring you into a dreamy state, until an old skool glitz unexpectedly enters, shaking you back to a techier reality.
‘Yog’ is another offering of infectious energy, this time with a minimal touch and plenty of drum kick, stamping it as prime time material. Progressively building up the techy tension and climaxing with ringing sirens, before fading back into that essential bass line. Ray Okpara steps up with a hefty rework of the original. With phat underlining warbles and an added vocal, overall the remix hits the dancefloor with a harder kick.
Carrier’s ‘Hinokio’ completes the package – perfectly constructed eerie tec h-house, subtly done to powerful effect. It’s not hard to imagine its damage late in the night, as things start to take a darker, meditative twist.
